Man Tells Court That His Medication Made Him Record 'Upskirt' Footage at B&Q

A 62-year-old man was detained by police and taken to court after he was discovered recording 'upskirting' footage of unsuspecting women in the Blackburn branch of B&Q with the aid of a Samsung smartphone strapped to his shoe.

Accrington-man David Brown was spotted by a staff member as he approached a woman wearing a short summer skirt before moving onto another unwitting victim. He was detained by store security while the police were called. After reviewing the content of his Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, it emerged that he had more videos of such acts on his phone recorded in 2013. He admitted through his defence lawyer that if someone had done the same to his wife or daughter he would have been distraught.

Brown, who had no previous convictions, blamed his episode of voyeurism on an unnamed medication that he had been taking that caused him to be hypersexual. He has now decreased his dosage to counteract such an event reoccurring. He was given a 12-month community order and had to pay £85 in legal costs and a £60 victim surcharge. [Daily Mail]
