Sony to Film Sega/Nintendo Console Wars Movie

Scott Rudin, the producer behind not-disastrous Facebook film The Social Network, is looking to do for gaming what he did for nerdy programmers, with Sony Pictures said to be planning a movie based on the Sega/Nintendo battle for dominance of home gaming in the early 1990s.

The film will be based on forthcoming book Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation, a factual account of how Sega and Nintendo fought each other using the SNES and Mega Drive as weapons back when games were good and interesting.

According to Booktrade, Rudin has acquired the services of directing pair Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to write and create the film, although there's no word yet on who's going to play Sonic The Hedgehog. [Booktrade via Kotaku]
