Stephen Elop's New Microsoft Job is Xbox Division Boss

By Gary Cutlack on at

Nokia man Stephen Elop may have missed out on the big CEO job at Microsoft, but he has a pretty decent consolation prize -- he'll be taking control of the Devices and Studios team that manages the Xbox gaming brand and MS's entertainment ambitions.

It's not all gravy for Elop, though. As well as the wildly popular gaming hardware, Microsoft's Devices and Studios division also manages the slightly less popular Surface tablet series, so he's not going to have it particularly easy there.

The news comes via a leaked memo from current Devices boss Julie Larson-Green, who outed Elop as her replacement in her goodbye message. [Geek Wire via Techradar]
