The Higgs Boson Particle Explained in 120 Seconds, by Peter Higgs

By Jamie Condliffe on at

The discovery of the Higgs Boson particle is perhaps science's most important recent success—but that doesn't mean it's easy to understand. Who better to explain it, though, than Peter Higgs himself?

In this video, Higgs describes the particle, and what it does, in under 120 seconds. But without doubt the best bit is when fellow physicist Jim Al-Khalili ask Higgs: "Could you encapsulate that description in, say, thirty seconds?"

"No," comes the declarative answer. Peter Higgs, I still want to cuddle you. [BBC]
