Ageing Audiophiles Push PonoPlayer Through £3m Kickstarter Tin-Rattling Goal

The slightly mocked Pono Music scheme with its "high resolution" audio playback claims and list of rock god endorsements has exploded through its crowd-funding aim, currently sitting at a total of $5.1m in pledges from over 15,000 people. Better get used to hearing about the Pono Store.

The achievement makes Pono the fourth-highest taker in Kickstarter's history, placing it behind such tech luminaries as Pebble and Ouya. And there are still 15 days left to secure yourself an early edition of the upmarket FLAC player, before someone like Apple or Facebook swoops in with a few billion to buy up its user base in 2017.
