Huawei Backtracks on Plans to Release Dual-Boot Smartphone

Having proudly claimed the first Android-Windows dual-boot phones would arrive by spring, Huawei is now backpedalling—saying that it won't happen after all. Sound familiar?

The company told Fierce Insider:

Huawei Consumer Business Group adopts an open approach towards mobile operating systems to provide a range of choices for consumers.

However, most of our products are based on Android OS, [and] at this stage there are no plans to launch a dual-OS smartphone in the near future.

A Huawei spokeswoman said the company's plans have changed since comments confirming a Q2 2014 arrival of a dual-boot system were made to Trusted Reviews at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona in late February. [Fierce Insider]
