4G connectivity -- it's a god-given right of flagship mobile tech these days, right? Microsoft today brings its Surface 2 up to speed in the UK, announcing the May 8th release of its 4G-enabled version of the Windows tablet.

Heading to PC World and Currys, the 64GB tablet will be priced at £539, running Windows 8.1 and coming with Office Home & Student RT and Outlook RT pre-installed. Adding 10g to the weight of the Wi-Fi model thanks to its new microSIM slot and mobile connectivity, it's otherwise identical to the Wi-Fi model, with a Nvidia Tegra 4 processor under the hood and 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD display up front. Pre-orders open today.
