StarWars.com just broke the casting news for Episode VII, and it looks like rumours regarding the original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker all making appearances in Disney's film are indeed true -- alongside some names that may be new to you.
Directed by J.J Abrams (who has confirmed that shooting will commence "in a couple of weeks"), the
pensioners original cast will be joined by British actor John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Mr Selfridge, Blue Season, and, err, Casualty), Adam Driver (of Girls fame), Oscar Isaac (Drive and Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (needs no explanation), Domhnall Gleeson (True Grit and Anna Karenina), and 85-year-old Swedish actor Max von Sydow, famous for making many wonderful films with Ingmar Bergman.
It'll open in cinemas December 18th, two thousand and fookin' fifteen.
Honestly, even though Disney is bound to ruin this for us fans, roping the original cast in is a big middle finger up not just to anyone who has been bemoaning the upcoming celluloid massacres, but anyone who has ever professed to not actually liking Star Wars. [StarWars.com -- thanks, Marcelo!]
