Now, we know we like to take the odd dig at Samsung's never-ending array of Galaxy handsets, but the latest sneak peak at the rumoured Galaxy S5 Mini points towards a budget-orientated flagship-spinoff that (providing the pricing is right) might ...whisper it... actually be pretty good.
According to Sammobile, the phone will land with a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display at a reasonable 720p resolution -- a notable improvement over the S4 Mini's lacking qHD display. It's also likely to retain the waterproofing IP67 certification that the S5 has. Android KitKat is expected to be the OS on offer, with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor running the show. That processor is unchanged then from the S4 Mini, as is the 1.5GB of RAM and 8MP camera. No official launch date yet from Samsung, let alone confirmation of the handset's existence, but Sammobile sources are expecting a June unveiling. [Sammobile]
