If you're an iPhone or iPad user looking to catch up on recent Sky Go, Now TV or BBC iPlayer programming at the moment, it looks like you're out of luck. Streaming is currently not working properly across all three platforms, with a "Client Server Certificate" error seemingly causing the issues with the Sky apps.
Those looking for a quick fix for the Sky issues are being encouraged to dial the date on their devices back 48 hours, which seems to fix the problem. It's like the Millennium Bug all over again!
Sky has noted the issue and is working to fix it, stating on its service status page:
We are aware that some of our customers may be unable to view new streams via Sky Go and Now TV on iOS devices. This is under investigation, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The BBC has also issued a statement through its iPlayer help page:
We are aware of reports from users encountering an ‘Insufficient Bandwidth' error message when attempting to play programmes through the iPad app. This is currently under investigation and we will update this FAQ when we obtain further information.
A mere coincidence, or something more sinister? We've reached out to Sky and the Beeb, and will keep you posted on how and when this gets fixed, and what went wrong in the first place once we know more. Have you been affected?
