An odd new 7-inch Samsung model has been lodged for approval with Chinese mobile authorities, with the tech giant seemingly intent on once again pushing the boundaries of just how big a phone can be.
The 7-inch model, known under the development number SM-T2558, isn't a powerhouse inside though. The specs claim there's 1.5GB of RAM matched with a 1.4GHz quad-core chipset, 720p display and 8MP camera inside the echoing chassis, so it's likely to be a cheaper phablet for those with enormous sausage/banana fingers, much like Samsung's previous Galaxy Mega series.
Before mocking it, cast your mind back a few years. Samsung was mad to launch the enormous Galaxy Note, we thought, before it turned out to be exactly what people wanted and kicked off the screen size arms race we see today. Could seven inches become the new normal? [Mobile Geeks, SamMobile via Techradar]
