All Live UK Train Data Goes Free for Developers Next Month

A flood of new live and accurate rail timetable apps ought to be unleashed later this year, thanks to National Rail Enquiries deciding to free-up access to all of its live data APIs -- many of which require a fee to access right now.

Come June 1st, access to everything the NRE feeds through its Darwin live data collator will be free to all developers, meaning every travel app ought to come with access to live rail travel information, the ability to track trains about the country and more. Devs who pull in more than five million API hits a month will have to pay, but at least the amateur coder can have a play for free now. [TechCrunch]
