The Beats buyout is looking like a done deal, and it now seems Apple is moving to ensure its software is ready for the new injection of audio hardware talent. Rumours are swirling suggesting that the next version of iOS will offer high-definition audio support.
According to Japanese Apple blog MacOtakara, high definition audio will be a major component of Apple's iOS 8 media playback push. It'd also mean new headphones from Apple would be required (perhaps built by the Beats team?) as well as an updated Lightning connection and cabling for those looking to dock there devices. If the Beats deal does go through, it could also be a major boost for Dr Dre's streaming service -- which is apparently being completely dwarfed by Spotify.[MacOtakara via TechRadar]
