A lady in the Japanese village of Nagoro is quite the sentimental type, going to the extreme of creating a doll in the likeness of anyone who leaves the village. Dead or alive.
And she's not just keeping them in her loft, either. Ayano Tsukimi puts the dolls in places that were important to the people who've left, resulting in a valley and village populated by life-size fabric ghosts of former residents. She's made around 350 so far, including children and teachers in a closed local school. [Vimeo via io9]
