UK McDonald's Happy Meals Currently Come With an eBook Instead of a Toy

By Gerald Lynch on at

Because of course it's an immaterial tome that's going to put the "Happy" in "Happy Meal" for the little 'uns, right?

While an action figure would likely rank higher on children's wish-lists for Happy Meal gifts, you can't knock McDonald's attempt to put something a little more stimulating in the box alongside the fries and burgers. As part of its annual "Happy Readers" initiative, each Happy Meal purchased between now and June 3rd will come with a download code for one of Enid Blyton's Secret Seven mystery series books, with the code provided by Kobo. Those that don't have access to a PC, tablet, smartphone or eReader will be pleased to hear that McDonald's will also be popping a £1 coupon for a physical copy of one of the books into the box too.
