The Nexus 7 tablet is long-overdue a proper successor, and we're likely only a couple of months away from the launch of a follow-up to last year's impressive Nexus 5. Could Google's next smartphone and tablet be called the Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 respectively? Newly uncovered code suggests so.
Code divers Florian Kiersch and Carsten Knobloch have been digging around in Chromium Code Reviews, and found explicit mention of both Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 devices. Though it's easy to fake these listings, they have also been known to correlate with upcoming Google products.
Google is expected to launch a new 8 to 8.9-inch tablet (built either by ASUS or HTC) this summer, alongside Android 4.5. A new Nexus smartphone, possibly modelled on the upcoming LG G3, should follow in the Autumn, given Google's previous launch schedules. [BGR, XDA Developers, SmartDroid]
