Royal Mail Will Deliver Parcels on a Sunday Starting This Summer

By Gerald Lynch on at

A new book, Blu-ray or bill through the post on a Sunday morning? A new pilot scheme starting this summer will see Royal Mail teams deliver just that, offering late weekend parcel services for the first time.

Having been recently privatised, the move is being made in an effort to support Royal Mail customers' increasing reliance on online shopping. Opening 100 of the busiest delivery offices for Sunday work, deliveries will begin first to addresses within the M25. Anyone who selects a Sunday delivery through a registered retailer will receive a text message notifying them of the impending delivery between 30 and 90 minutes before it arrives.

Parcelforce Worldwide, Royal Mail's express delivery service will also launch a Sunday service from June, available to contract customers. [Sky News]
