Microsoft is effectively leaving the tablet race with its Surface Pro 3, turning its attention to winning ground in the premium laptop space dominated by Apple's Mac Air computer and Lenovo's top-tier machines. Having been revealed last night, you can now pre-order Microsoft's 12-inch tablet-come-laptop replacement -- and the starting price isn't so bad afterall.
A 64GB Surface Pro 3 with an Intel Core i3 processor will set you back just £639, compared to the £719 starting price of the Surface Pro 2. An i5 / 128GB build jumps to £849, a 256GB / Intel i5 version costs £1,109. Moving onto the Core i7 builds, one with 256GB of storage will cost you £1,339, while a 512GB top-of-the-line version costs £1,649.
As for the Surface Pro 3's nifty stylus and Pro Type Cover keyboard accessories, they're priced at £49.99 and £109.99 respectively.
All are expected to ship by August 31st -- just in time for those going back to school or uni. [Microsoft]
