This is What the Internet Actually Sounds Like

No it's not the sound of a rage-filled teenager who lost his Call of Duty match, or the sad cries of a YouTube commenter. We're talking something much more literal than that. The internet does in fact have a distinct, and real, sound -- the sound of the servers keeping your favourite websites running.

Sound Artist Matt Parker took a trip to the data centres at Birmingham City University and recorded the sounds inside. It turns out the internet sounds like a collection of steam pipes and industrial machinery. Don't believe me? Have a listen for yourself.
