Xbox Live Gold Paywall May Crumble for Netflix

The arbitrary paywall that stops Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners from using apps like Netflix without a paid Gold subscription may soon be removed, with sources suggesting Microsoft's ready to shuffle some high-profile apps outside the paywall -- and bring others in.

According to Ars, media streamers like Hulu, Sky Go and Netflix may come in from the cold and be accessible by those using free Xbox Live accounts, although, of course, there's still the matter of their separate subs to pay to make them work. To swing the shift with the Excel-pushers down in accounts, some other Xbox Live services may end up behind the paid-account barrier, but the decision on what will and won't move is yet to be taken.
