Ireland has been tagged the best country in the world, as part of an odd attempt to combine historical achievements with global contributions and somehow rank all of the countries in the world.
Simon Anholt, designer of the Good Country Index said: "Using a wide range of data from the UN and other international organisations, we've given each country a balance-sheet to show at a glance whether it's a net creditor to mankind, a burden on the planet, or something in between."
Ireland came out top thanks to its achievements in science, technology, international peace, prosperity, climate, equality and more, with the nice-place-test also taking into account a country's contribution to world order. And Ireland's never invaded anyone, so it scores very well in the latter. [Independent]
