"Maybe we'll make a flying car, just for fun," Elon Musk told The Independent yesterday.
Explaining that he'd "thought about it quite a lot," the only thing stopping him appears to be every single thing that's kept the flying car from becoming a mainstream reality in the past 100 years.
"We could definitely make a flying car -- but that's not the hard part. The hard part is, how do you make a flying car that's super safe and quiet? Because if it's a howler, you're going to make people very unhappy," Musk said.
Designing a flying car that's safe and quiet? If those are the only things keeping Musk from releasing one, then we can expect them right around the same time as Terrafugia delivers on its version of this George Jetson dream, right?
Musk's future sounds pretty fantastic -- trips to Mars, that Hyperloop thing, and now flying cars? I can't wait for them all to arrive. Let's just hope we won't still be writing about these wonderful visions of the future in 50 years' time. [The Independent]
