Do you trust Apple's Touch ID fingerprint system? Or, more specifically, would you trust it with your PayPal account money? With iOS 8 opening up the scanner's API to third-party applications, PayPal is now actively working on letting you use it for authentication purposes on its mobile apps.
"It seems to be a fairly easy API to use, but we're still kicking the tires," the PayPal source told Business Insider. Apple's been keen to stress just how secure its Touch ID scanner is despite some early concerns. With PayPal backing it, Touch ID is seemingly reassuring major payment management executives somewhere.
