Police Force Introduces Text-to-Grass Drink Driving Report Line

By Gary Cutlack on at

Police in Lincolnshire have launched a text-based reporting system, designed to let vigilant members of the public send in the details of people they suspect may be likely to get in their cars after more than the legal number of drinks.

The idea is to report habitual drunk car users rather than actual drivers spotted about on the roads or jerking out of pub car parks, with the hope that intervention may be able to stop offenders from repeatedly driving while drunk. [BBC]
