Since when did 5-inch screens become the norm at mid-range prices? Following hot on the heels of this morning's HTC One E8 unveiling comes the 5.3-inch Sony Xperia T3, looking to wrangle its way into the pockets of those that can't afford Sony's Xperia Z2 flagship.
Always a fan of a superlative, Sony is claiming that the T3, with its 7mm thickness, is the thinnest handset with a screen this size. Looking not unlike the top-of-the-line Xperia models (minus the water or dust proofing), it's slightly curvier with a plastic casing, but retains the metallic edge trim and dedicated camera shutter button.
Running the show is a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, powering a 720p Triluminos display. Android 4.4 KitKat is onboard, with Sony's usual array of UI tweaks laid on top, while the rear camera is an 8MP Sony Exmor RS number. As ever, Sony's holding out on pricing for the time being, but you'll see the Xperia T3 in stores by the end of July. [Sony]
