Supermarket Quail Egg Hatches in Bird Enthusiast's Incubator

A chicken-keeping lady who bought some free range quail eggs from Waitrose thought it might be interesting to stick some into an incubator and see what happens. Nature took its course, and about 16 days later one chick hatched.

Mandy Clayton explained: "I'd bought a dozen quails' eggs for a barbecue, and had four left over from the salad, so I just put them in the incubator to see what would happen." Next time she ought to be more sensible and only buy half a dozen eggs. [Independent]
