It was a bit of a surprise that Nokia continued work on Android powered phones after it was purchased by Microsoft, but we were grateful to accept it. Sadly an email from Stephen Elop, head of Microsoft's Devices & Services division, indicates that the company's time with Android will soon be over, and all future Nokia phones will run nothing but Windows Phone.
"In addition to the portfolio already planned, we plan to deliver additional lower-cost Lumia devices by shifting select future Nokia X designs and products to Windows Phone devices. We expect to make this shift immediately while continuing to sell and support existing Nokia X products."
In many ways this isn't a shock since Windows Phone is still lagging behind Android and iOS, and it doesn't make much sense for Microsoft to directly support the competition. [Microsoft via The Verge]
