You knew it was inevitably coming, and now Samsung has finally revealed its miniaturised version of the Galaxy S5. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is actually a little more capable than its shrunken predecessors, with a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 AMOLED screen and 1.4GHz quad-core processor, backed by 1.5GB of RAM.
An 8MP camera sits on the rear, with both the Samsung Galaxy S5's heart rate monitor and fingerprint scanners squeezed in. A 2,100mAh battery powers the show, with 16GB of built-in storage (microSD cards up to 64GB can be slotted in). Android 4.4 KitKat (with TouchWiz UI) is onboard, with the phone offering IP67 certification. Measuring 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1mm, and weighing 120g, it's not really even a "Mini" phone anymore, and though there isn't complete feature-parity with the full-size S5, it's the closest the the flagship-to-mini makeover has come to a level playing field.
No pricing to share yet, but expect to see it in stores by the middle of the month in four colours -- Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold.
