Legal advice sought by TfL in the wake of London's recent taxi street war over the rise of Uber says the service is operating perfectly legally and in agreement with the terms of London's taxi microcosm, so... there.
In a lengthy legal statement reproduced by TNW, TfL says consultations with legal experts have confirmed there's no basis for black cab drivers to complain about Uber's app-based taximeter-like systems, saying: "In relation to the way Uber operates in London, TfL is satisfied that based upon our understanding of the relationship between the passenger and Uber London, and between Uber London and Uber BV, registered in Holland, that it is operating lawfully under the terms of the 1998 PHV(L) Act."
Which is a complicated way of saying "Now drop it." [TNW]
