Brian "Boss Nass, Prince Vultan" Blessed was once offered the lead role in Doctor Who, the booming-voiced actor revealed to the Radio Times. The opportunity arose in the mid-60s, which would have seen Blessed become the second Doctor, replacing William Hartnell.
"After I was in Z Cars, the head of BBC serials took me aside and said, 'We're thinking of having a young Doctor Who and we'd like to cast you'. But it clashed with other things," he revealed to the Radio Times. Turning it down, Blessed revealed he'd "jump at it" were the opportunity to rise again.
