A landlord in Barnet has been fined over £3000 for letting out a converted loft that required its occupiers to crawl to get inside.
The loft room in unfashionable affordable Hendon has a ceiling height that ranges between 0.7m and 1.2m, with its potentially stunted tenants accessing it through what's described as an "entrance hatch." The owner was first told to stop renting it out back in 2012, but didn't. The shock being that people are actually OK living there, as the price was seen to be right for London.
But it was a fire-death risk according to the council and building regulations, so is now vacant. [Standard]
