It's Wednesday, and arriving at the halfway point of the week means it's now officially acceptable to sneak in a cheeky lunchtime pint.
Better still, it's Tax Equality Day, which means that more than 15,000 pubs and restaurants in the UK are slashing prices by 7.5 percent in protest at VAT laws they perceive as unfair (buying food and drink in supermarkets isn't subject to VAT, by way of comparison).
Organised by the VAT Club - which has successfully campaigned for lower VAT rates in the hospitality industry across Europe - the biggest supporter of Tax Equality Day is already dirt cheap Wetherspoons, which will be offering the discount at all of its 900-plus outlets (in Scotland, it looks like it's restricted to 15 percent off food).
Other big names among the 37 companies participating include Fullers, Punch Taverns, and Wadworth. Unfortunately, there isn't a unified search tool to find out if there's a boozy bargain near you, so you'll have to use each group's pub finding tool individually. Here are the main ones:
