Acer Takes on Selfies and Wearables With the Glittery "Selfie Sombrero"

By Gary Cutlack on at

Acer has employed young designer Christian Cowan-Sanluis to use up half the world's natural glitter resources on this 'selfie sombrero.' It's a hat. For taking selfies. With an integrated Acer Iconia A-1 840 tablet.

Designed to have people laugh at selfies and wearables (like we don't already), the hat is obviously not a real thing that's likely to make it to market. But we can't ignore the photographs.

We can't ignore this one in particular:

Designer Cowan-Sanluis was also convinced to talk about it in serious designer speak, saying: "With the hat, we wanted to take an element from my last F/W collection, but correspondingly integrate the most popular zeitgeist there is in technology at the moment, the selfie. We also wanted to give it a fun and playful approach, but that in the end helps the user to better understand their face when taking a self-portrait."
