Joan Rivers's Instagram account has today been extolling the virtues of Apple's new iPhone 6. That wouldn't usually be too big a deal -- celebrities often do paid promotional work through their social media channels. The problem is, unless you've been living under a rock the past few weeks, you'll be aware that the comedian passed away almost a fortnight ago.
Along with a picture of what looks like an iPhone 4 box, "Rivers" apparently left the message:
This badass is being replaced by an iPhone 6 (not the fat one). I got this one in 2010 and, after 4 years, my only complaint is that apps are now designed for bigger screens, and the battery is getting tired. Never had a case for it, since it was most beautiful on its own. Great achievement in design. Great product. #apple #iphone #tech.
Rivers certainly loves that old iPhone. Or, at least, loved that old iPhone. It's an honest mistake to make -- what with all the tumultuous change currently going on at the Rivers estate, it's understandable for Rivers's people to let a seemingly insignificant update like this fall between the cracks. But, as we all advance in age, it's a reminder that any innocently scheduled Tweet or post could well act as our final message to the world. [TMZ]
