Google's Health Partner Invests $1.5bn to Cure Getting Old

By Gary Cutlack on at

Calico, the biotech specialist backed by Google, has announced a plan to stick around $1.5bn (£900m) into creating new therapies to beat the curse of today's world -- the embarrassment of getting old.

The money will be used to target ageing and age-related diseases, specifically looking into ways to beat the neurodegeneration behind conditions like Alzheimer's and the many forms of cancer. The money will go to create a "world-class research and development facility" to help stop rich people getting sick and having to leave all their money to their ungrateful children.

So keep taking the vitamins, Ray. They might save you yet. [Calico via The Verge]
