Little Printer Maker Berg Goes Into "Hibernation"

By Gerald Lynch on at

Berg, the UK design team behind the quirky-and-cute Little Printer is to enter a period of "hibernation", admitting that it had "not reached a sustainable business in connected products."

The company will keep a small team running until March of 2015 in order to tie up remaining business related to the Little Printer, after which it hopes to sell the device on to another company. If a buyer can't be found, Berg has also suggested that it will release the Little Printer's code so that fans and enthusiasts can continue to work on new features for the device.

Best of luck to all involved -- the Little Printer was a charming gadget, and its struggles just go to show how difficult getting a break in the market for connected devices can be. [Berg]
