Apple Now Has a Retina iMac for Your Pixel-Porn Pleasure

By Gerald Lynch on at

It's been long rumoured, but the creative community now has a new toy to lust over -- Apple's just announced a Retina iMac. Better start selling off those organs -- you know it's going to be a pricey one...

Design

At 27-inches across, the Retina iMac has a screen better than your average HD TV, running at a 5120 x 2880 resolution. That's 14.7 million pixels, making it the world's highest resolution display. Being Apple, it has its own fancy name -- the "Retina 5K Display".

The iMac with Retina display comes standard with hybrid SSD/HDD 1TB Fusion Drive. It starts a 3.3 Ghz Intel Core i5 processor and AMD Radeon R9 graphics.

It uses a third less energy than previous generations of the iMac, but maintains just a 5mm edge thickness.

Price

The 27-inch model is already up for sale on Apple's website, and it comes in under £2,000. Well, by a quid that is: it costs £1,999.
