Argos Catalogues From Days-Gone-by Truly are a Sight to Behold

By Tom Pritchard on at

When I was a child the release of a new Argos catalogue was always an exciting time, having the opportunity to flick through the pages and stare in awe at all the new toys that were on sale. It was especially fun around Christmas when I was tasked with making a list of what I wanted so that my parents could hand it out to  relatives.

These days I'm a relatively grumpy, cynical adult meaning very little gets me excited as those bygone days of youth. Then I found out that Retromash had a selection of archived Argos catalogues from the realms of ancient history (meaning, of course, the 1980s) and I couldn't help but get a little bit excited.

Despite the fact that most of these were from before I was born, I can imagine spending a great deal of time flicking through the hundreds of pages of products and reminiscing about a simpler time. A time when the Gameboy was the pinnacle of mobile technology, and connecting to the internet meant listening to a whirring modem and paying by the minute.

So let's embrace the nostalgia and have a look at a few of the products Argos sold back in the day. It's incredible how things have changed in 30 years.

If you have a few hours to kill, you can check out more of the catalogues over at Retromash. [Retromash]
