When it comes to post-production, it's usually the visual effects artists who bring impossible characters to life that get all the attention, not the digital artists responsible for colour-correction. But watching this breakdown of all the work that goes into professionally colour-correcting a L'Oréal Garnier commercial will certainly have you appreciating what a Senior Colourist does, even if their work is still completely invisible to you.

If you assumed that all that went into colour-correcting even a simple commercial was just adjusting a few sliders, you'll probably be shocked to see the work that Senior Colourist Andreas Brueckl at Colormeup put into this ad. In the past there has certainly been controversy about over-photoshopped models on magazine covers, but this is a different process altogether, and would be the same whether the ad featured a model, a car, or a hamburger. Everything from masking, to tracking, to layering complex corrections is used to make the lighting and colours in this ad pop and shine.
