On the left, rows of small red squares. On the right, the code that brought them into being. Not pictured? The guy wearing the Oculus Rift headset, who's making it all happen in real-time. Forget The Matrix. This is low-level deity stuff.
Brian Peiris is the man who made this happen, this live-coding web app that lets you summon objects into life and make them dance with a few strokes of the keyboard. It's simple stuff he creates here, because coding creations while touch-typing in real time takes a lot of effort. But still! This seems to be the real promise of virtual reality, doesn't it? Not playing in someone else's predetermined world, but building your own from nothing.
