Ghostbusters 3 All-Female Reboot Gets its Writer

By Gerald Lynch on at

It's finally happening! After years in development hell, Ghostbusters 3 is moving forward. And, having now found a writer in Katie Dippold and a director in Paul Feig, those rumours of an all-female ghost-busting team have been proven true.

"It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call," tweeted Feig.

Dippold and Feig's previous work gives you a good indication of what to expect from the next Ghostbusters movie. Having worked together on The Heat, Dippold has previously written for MadTV, while Feig directed the smash-hit Bridesmaids movie. While fan-favourite Bill Murray will be on the top of everyone's list to make a return, I'd reckon that Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are both shoo-ins for a role. No word yet on a release date, but with the script only just being written, you'd hope for a late 2016 release at the earliest.
