SIM Cards Outnumber Humans on Planet Mobile

By Gary Cutlack on at

There are apparently around 7.2 billion people on the planet right now, a number that's growing by two people a second. However, there are also 7.2 billion SIM cards in operation too, and that number's growing much, much faster, as users double and triple-up on their connections.

Of course, the data is skewed, as some people in developing countries don't yet have two mobile numbers and a spare redundant data-only SIM to make sure their tablets are always usable when there's no Wi-Fi connection, so us lot in the developed world clearly have more than our fair share of connected devices.
