Tesco tried to keep Welsh-speaking users happy at its Express branch in Aberystwyth, mounting a sign in the regional language saying "Codiad am Ddim". Rather than signalling free cash withdrawals, a local says the sign actually translates to something closer to "free erections".
The photo and translation was posted to Facebook by councillor Ceredig Davies, who explained: "Signage on Tesco's ATM at its new store in Aberystwyth promises more than it can deliver. Welsh speakers would spot it immediately, for those not blessed with heaven's language. 'Codiad am Ddim' translates colloquially as 'Free Erection'." [Independent]
