A Reject Robot Learns To Be Cool in Neill Blomkamp's Chappie Trailer

By Leslie Horn on at

This is the trailer for Chappie, the upcoming sci-fi/adventure flick from writer/director Neill "District 9/Elysium" Blomkamp about a childlike robot who's kidnapped by criminals, must learn how to be cool, and at some point figure out the difference between right and wrong. Just like our primary school, then.

The film hits cinemas worldwide next year on March 6, and stars Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver, Dev "Slumdog Millionaire" Patel, Blomkamp mainstay Sharlto Copley as the titular robot and (and!) Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er of South African electro-rap duo Die Antwoord. Hell yes.

Well, if the theme of machines grappling with human feelings may sound trite, the presence of Die Antwoord means there has to be at least an overtone of weird. [EW]
