Hot on the heels of HP's surprising gaming laptop announcement, Acer has just shared the full details on its Aspire V Nitro Black edition laptop, the most exciting notebook it has put out in some time.
With a 15.6-inch screen, Acer's looking to court gamers with the Aspire V Nitro Black, packing in a 4K (3840 x 2160) LED IPS display and powerful Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M graphics. Paired with an Intel Core i&-4710HQ quad-core processor, it should be up to the task when it comes to some serious gaming sessions (even if it's just missed the boat on Nvidia's 980M chipset). Dual storage drives (a 128GB SSD and 1TB hard drive) give the flexibility of ample storage space and speedy boot times, while 16GB of RAM onboard makes this a good option for video editors too.
With a matte black finish and red backlit keys it's an attractive machine, though it's not exactly portable -- at 24mm thick and 2.4kg in weight it's a bit of a heffer, but at least its got the guts to make up for it. Landing in November, you'll be able to pick up the laptop at prices starting from £1,299. [Acer]
