Kim Dotcom, founder of MegaUpload and Mega, has said that he is now broke "defenceless" and facing jail. Looks like he didn't manage to sell many copies of his rap album then...
Ironically making the claims via videolink from his New Zealand mansion to the UnBound Digital conference here in the UK, Dotcom is accused of making close to £111.5 million from his piracy-enabling empire. His legal battle to avoid extradition to the United States has apparently cost him dearly.
"I'm defenceless and they're using that opportunity to try and get my bail revoked and that's what I'm facing on Thursday," said Dotcom.
"This might be my last public appearance and if I go back to jail you can tell everybody that was the one."
Dotcom's downfall followed a helicopter-led police raid on his mansion back in January 2012.
But, by his own admission, Dotcom's personality hasn't done him any favours in earning public support. On top of a brief, failed and self-serving investment in a New Zealand political party, Dotcom added that:
"When you travel around on private jets and you go around with cars that have number plates saying 'God', 'Stoned' and 'Mafia' on them, it's probably not the best for keeping a low profile." [Channel News Asia]
