Man Builds One-Buttoned Chromecast Remote

This glamorous piece of post-millennial tech is a remote control for a Chromecast. If it looks like it was made by a man on his living room carpet, that's because it was.

The DIY Chromecast remote uses a Raspberry Pi to power it, with developer Jeff Bower attacking the problem of how you manage streams in a household that's more than one man in a studio flat watching Batmans on his own all day.

His DIY Razcast has but one button, which has been coded to pause and resume running streams -- ideal when the person who initiated the stream has wandered off to the toilet with his or her closely guarded smartphone in tow and a second person wants to pause whatever's playing. [Ebower via Gigaom]
