Mophie Powerstation Plus is a Burly, Convenient Backup Battery

By Mario Aguilar on at

Mophie portable batteries are some of the best out there mostly because you can count on them to be reliable. The last thing you want is a cheap backup that fails you. The company's latest top-tier line packs integrated charge and sync cables into a slick design that might actually be worth the hefty price tag.

The new line of Powerstation Plus batteries comes in 3000, 5,000, 7,000, and 12,000 mAh models for $80 (£51), $100 (£64), $120 (£76), and $150 (£95). And in fairness, that's a lot more expensive than chargers from solid Mophie competitor Anker.

But what you're paying besides reliability is convenience: The Powerstation Plus has built-in charge and sync cables. (Both Lightning and Micro USB are available.) That means that in addition to charging your phone with the built-in cables, you can also use it to connect to your phone to your computer for a sync. Given that you're likely to use a Mophie when you're on the run and you need an emergency charge, cutting back on cable clutter is always a benefit. In this case, it's a benefit you have to pay for.
