Panasonic's CM1 Camera/Phone Hybrid Hits the UK in December

Panasonic's having another shot at the mobile market in the UK, albeit this time it's coming at it from another angle. The Lumix CM1 is a camera first and phone second.

It's similar in format to Samsung's Galaxy Zoom series, but substantially more capable inside. The Lumix CM1 has a 1-inch sensor that obliterates the hardware of all smartphones and can shoot in RAW format, plus it's paired with Android 4.4 running on a 4.7-inch 1080p touchscreen for easy photo sharing. And perhaps the odd phone call.

It's high-end Lumix style for high-end smartphone money, and with a European price tag of €899 or just over £700, it's unlikely to trouble Samsung or Apple to any degree. But we wouldn't cry too much if one was under the Christmas tree. [Techradar]
