The A-Z of Tech-Powered Pills, From Blue Androids to Red YouTubes

By Matt Hill on at

When Nintendo found itself at the centre of a recent red-top drug scandal, with Mario's company logo embossed unwittingly on the latest brand of super-strength MDMA that's firing up teenagers' evenings, we wondered what other video-game and tech firms could find their instantly recognisable branding co-opted by the drugs trade in its wake.

But the truth is, the world's drug peddlers, as you would rightly expect, are well ahead of the British media and are already flogging ecstasy pills emblazoned with all kinds of recognisable logos and names with no shame – and seemingly no headline-worthy news-story casualties – whatsoever.

Pac-Mans and Mitsubishis we remember foggily from "back in the day" – the latter having 44 pages of Pill Reports dedicated to samples alone – but according to this new Mecca of MDMA, there are some 25 tech-powered pills that have been spied on The Scene this year.

Looking for Microsoft Windows? Funnily enough you have to head back to 1998 for the last sighting of one of those…
